Another short commentary from JobsDB.com Singapore
While people use them as synonyms most of the time, the words "job" and "career" are very much different from each other. And understanding the difference between the two can be crucial to achieving success and satisfaction in life.
How are they different from each other, you ask? Think of it this way: a job is equals to financial security while a career is equals to personal fulfillment. It's a personal thing, really. You can have a career but find it difficult to catch up with the bills or have a job but be the grumpiest person to ever exist in the lives of your acquaintances. That's the easiest way to explain the point. It's a tag duel between personal passions and material needs. Now, tell us, which side is winning in your life?
But don't get us wrong, financial stability is important. Heck, career fulfillment is impossible to achieve with a hungry stomach. But money is not so important that you should pass on every chance you get to fulfill your dreams. After all, there are ways in which you can make money out of your personal passions and though these ways aren't as generous as a high-paying job, they are enough to keep your life light shining.
So, which side should rule your life? It depends. Settling for a "job" might be the turning point to your "career" dreams. You don't have to rush to get to your dreams. If things aren't going the way you want them to, get a job. Once the storm settles, resume. You should know when it is time to put your dreams on hold.
